Look inside Belong: whole school SEND audit

The audit or review is based on your local authority's whole school universal expectations categories.

Although Belong is built on a common architecture, it can be adapted to the specific needs of each local authority.

Where your local MAT academies are using a different whole school SEND audit, they can skip this, and go straight to the action plan.

Audit items: focus areas

Each top level universal expectation category is a separate focus area for the audit. Leeds have chosen

  • Outcomes
  • Leadership
  • Assessment and early identification
  • Curriculum and high quality teaching
  • Environment
  • Pastoral (behaviour and relationships)
  • Preparing for tomorrow
  • Voice of the child and family
  • Staff skills and training

These focus areas are further divided to allow a comprehensive audit. For example, assessment and early identification

  • Identification of need
  • Graduated approach
  • Formative assessment
  • Access arrangements

SENCOs can easily see which focus areas have been completed and which are still required.
